Kamilah Collective began with a simple belief — that the most beautiful things in life are made slowly, with intention, and with love. Today we craft luxury crochet pieces for women who choose beauty in the everyday.
The name Kamilah is of Arabic origin, derived from the root word k-m-l, meaning to be complete, whole, or perfected. It is a name that reflects excellence pursued with intention rather than perfection achieved without effort.
Kamilah Collective was named to reflect our commitment to creating pieces that feel complete, timeless, and exquisitely finished from first stitch to last.
I often say that Kamilah Collective didn't begin when I launched a business. It began one summer when I was ten years old.
A group of remarkable women at my church spent their summer investing in the girls around them, teaching us skills that could be carried for a lifetime. That year, they taught us to crochet. I began with a simple granny square, learning one stitch at a time until those small squares became two full-sized blankets that we donated to a local nursing home. Even then, I learned that creating something beautiful by hand could also be an act of love.
Life eventually took me in a different direction. Three degrees, an executive corporate career, and years of building a successful profession left little time for crochet. But during the pandemic, when the world unexpectedly slowed down, I was reminded to do the same. I picked up my crochet hook again and designed a sweater for my husband from the softest cotton yarn. It was completely one of a kind, thoughtfully designed, beautifully crafted, and unlike anything I had made before.
That sweater rekindled something I hadn't realized I was missing. It reminded me that there is a quiet joy in creating with intention—that slowing down to make something by hand is a luxury in itself.
One design led to another. One sweater became a collection of garments. Those garments inspired accessories. And those accessories ultimately led to my debut collection. And with every collection, my vision became clearer: crochet deserves to be seen for what it truly is...artistry.
I founded Kamilah Collective because I believe handcrafted pieces deserve a place in the world of luxury. Every design is created to celebrate exceptional craftsmanship, timeless style, and thoughtful details that make each piece feel rare, personal, and unforgettable.
